Today Wakefield Whirlwinds national league teams took on two strong sides in both Division 1 and Division 3! Unfortunately, both teams lost however both games were well fought and showed strong teamwork and dedication from the whirlwinds side.

Whirlwinds 1 Game
Wakefield 1 first took on Mohawks 1. with a final score of 40 -71 however the score does not show the story of the game! Whirlwinds started with a small lead due to a run of baskets meaning they were the first leader of the game. unfortunately Mohawks fought back and took a 10 point lead. Once things settled the team fought hard to keep the gap low which they succeeded in often being only 10 points down. Finally as the game drew to a close mohawks managed to pull away to score 71 - 40.

Division 3 Game
Whirlwinds 2 took on Liverpool Basketball club who gave us some great close games last season with a result that had only 2 points in it to Liverpool. Following on from that match at the end of last season whirlwinds 2 started and remained strong for most of the game, staying ahead for 3 full quarters. The game was a constantly nail-biting game with the point difference never being over 5 points keeping the whole crowd on edge. In the last quarter the Liverpool offence broke down whirlwinds defence which lead to a one point loss for whirlwinds with a score of 35 -34 in favour of Liverpool.
